Terms of Service.
The agreement between you and B-side. Written in English, not legalese, because we'd like you to actually read it.
01 Who this applies to
B-side is operated by B-side Social LLC, a South Carolina-based limited liability company ("B-side," "we," "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the B-side website, mobile-web app, and any related services we offer at bside.social ("the Service").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old to use B-side. This isn't optional. Don't sign up if you're under 18; we'll close your account if we learn you are.
02 Your account
You'll create an account using an email address, a display name, and a handle. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials private and for everything that happens on your account.
Your handle is yours while you're active. Inactive accounts (no signin for 12+ months) may have their handles released. Once active, you can't change a handle without our help.
You can have one account. You can't create accounts on behalf of someone else, and you can't impersonate a real person who isn't you. We do allow stage names, pen names, and chosen names — what we don't allow is pretending to be someone you're not.
03 What you put on B-side
You own what you post. Your bio, posts, photos, songs you tag, comments — that's all yours. We don't claim ownership of any of it.
To make the Service work, you grant B-side a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, distribute, and reformat your content so we can show it to the people you've chosen to share it with (friends, guestbook visitors, public profile viewers). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we need to retain it briefly for backups or legal reasons.
You also grant other B-side users the right to view content you've made visible to them, in the ways the Service permits (e.g., a friend can see your friends-only post, a profile visitor can see your public profile).
You're responsible for everything you post. If you don't have the rights to share it, don't share it. (See §9 on copyright.)
04 What we do with it
We use your content to provide and improve the Service: display it to people you've chosen to share with, generate recommendations of people (not content) to follow, prevent abuse, and respond to legal obligations.
We don't sell your data. We don't run third-party ads. We don't track you across other sites. The privacy policy at bside.social/privacy spells out exactly what we collect and what we do with it.
05 What's not allowed
The full list lives in our Community Guidelines. The very-short version:
- No sexual content of minors. Ever. We scan all uploaded images and report violations to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as required by U.S. federal law.
- No adult / sexual content. B-side is not an adult platform.
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, doxxing, or stalking.
- No spam, scams, or impersonation.
- No copyrighted material you don't have rights to share.
- No deepfakes or non-consensual intimate imagery.
We take these seriously and enforce them. Violations result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity.
06 B-side Plus
B-side Plus is our optional paid subscription. It unlocks additional profile customization, expanded music features, creator tools, and a few other things — full list at bside.social and in your account.
Plus is billed monthly ($5) or annually ($48) in U.S. dollars, processed by Stripe. Founding-member pricing ($4/month) is available for the first 1,000 paid subscriptions and locks in as long as your subscription stays continuously active.
Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel any time from your account settings; you'll keep Plus features until the end of the current billing period.
We never paywall the core social network. Free accounts will always have full access to profiles, posts, DMs, friends, and the feed.
07 Cancellation & refunds
You can cancel your Plus subscription any time. Within 14 days of any charge, you can request a full refund with no questions asked from your account settings or by emailing hello@bside.social.
After 14 days, refunds for unused time are at our discretion, and we lean generous when the request is honest.
You can delete your account any time. Deletion is real: we wipe your profile data, your posts, your media, and your DMs. Data export is available before deletion so you can keep what you made.
08 Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines, if your account poses a security or legal risk, or if we're required to do so by law.
Severe violations (child sexual content, credible threats of violence, sustained harassment) result in immediate permanent ban. Other violations follow a graduated path: warning → content removal → temporary suspension → ban. We try to be fair. You can appeal any decision by emailing hello@bside.social.
You can stop using the Service any time. We can stop offering the Service any time, though we'll give meaningful notice if we ever shut it down.
09 Copyright (DMCA)
If you believe content on B-side infringes your copyright, you can send a DMCA takedown notice to our designated agent. Your notice must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- A description of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed.
- A link to the specific content on B-side that you claim infringes.
- Your contact information (address, phone, email).
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

10 Disclaimers
B-side is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't guarantee uninterrupted service, that bugs will be fixed immediately, or that the Service will meet your specific needs.
We don't review every piece of user content before it's posted. We're not responsible for the accuracy or legality of content other users post.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, B-side disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11 Limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, B-side Social LLC's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to the Service is limited to (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) $100, whichever is greater.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or service interruption.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted.
12 Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email (to the address on your account) and post the updated Terms on this page at least 14 days before they take effect. You can review prior versions at the bottom of this page (or by emailing us).
If you don't agree to the updated Terms, you can cancel your account before the changes take effect.
13 Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
If you and B-side have a dispute, we'll do our best to resolve it informally. Email hello@bside.social describing the issue, and we'll respond within 14 days. If we can't resolve it, either of us may bring a claim in state or federal court located in York County, South Carolina, and both parties consent to the jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
No mandatory arbitration. We don't take that away from you. If you want to sue us in small claims court for a refund, you can.
